STFU
I am sick and fucking tired of Republicans, conservatives,
and GOP kid-touchers getting all pissy about how George W. Bush ruined
the Republican “brand”. These are the same people who were screaming
for Bush to be appointed in 2000 and who kept him in power in 2004.
They are all Bush-enablers who, upon discovering that the majority of
Americans had figured out that the Dear Leader was a fetal-alcohol-syndrome fuckwit
bent on blowing up the world, decided they might want to distance
themselves from him. Too fucking late you piece-of-shit bloodthirsty
fucks. This is all your fault.
One of the worst offenders is Newt Gingrich, who took to the pages of Human Events yesterday to whine about how George W. Bush has wrecked an otherwise upright and chaste Republican party. This strains credulity - the Republican party was pretty much cast into the shitter when Gingrich took over, and the seeds of Bush can be found in the insane rantings of that amiable dunce St. Ronnie.
When I saw the Gingrich piece, I of course had to comment (Human Events doesn’t offer a link, so I put it up at Crooks and Liars as well):
Poor Newt - you’ve made your bed and now you have to lie in it. From your hypocritical pursuit of Bill Clinton to your cynical Bush-enabling, you are a disgrace. You and your bloodthirsty party made it possible for a stupid dry-drunk to occupy the White House for eight years. Any sentient being familiar with his biography could have predicted this disaster, but you and your party blithely ignored the danger.
Because of you we are in an endless war with a fourth-rate military power that never attacked us and presented no danger. Sure, Saddam killed people, but not nearly as many and Bush and Cheney. Thousands of soldiers dead, hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis dead, millions of refugees, trillions of dollars wasted. The country is broke, the military is stretched and exhausted, and our civil liberties are disappearing. The federal bench has been filled with subpar, racist judges who will finish dismantling those parts of the republic that Bush and Cheney didn’t get to.
Proud of yourself? Your “brand” should be dead given your track record. Republicanism and “Conservatism” will deservedly end up on the ash heap of history. And no, that blood on your hands won’t wash off.
Wonder how long the comment will stay up (if it’s not gone already) ….

Yes, Newt's got some chutzpuh to be whining about the destruction of the Republican "brand." Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!
The only thing that didn't come with their "brand" was an official logo, like the swastika, though I'm sure it was discussed trying to appropriate that image at some point.
This "presidency" has been a staggering and profoundly disgraceful failure by any imaginable metric, save one. Bush and his odious henchmen have succeeded, like Newt whined, in totally destroying the GOP "brand" for at least the next few decades, if not (hopefully) forever. Since it will take the nation at least that long to clean up the disaster they've wrought, we can be thankful for small favors, I suppose.

Hell, I know other people with FAS who could have done a better job as president. Now that you mention it, I too have been noticing conservatives and Republicans starting to distance themselves from the current admin, thinking that this clever move will trick us into forgetting that they were the ones who wanted it in the first place.
I'd like to add that Gingrich looks remarkably similar to Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys in that photo.

...oh but they do have an official logo. It's the american flag pin.

Be careful of what you wish for, Newt. Bush didn't ruin the GOP by himself.

You say this as is this were a bad thing:
Because of you we are in an endless war with a fourth-rate military power that never attacked us and presented no danger.... Thousands of soldiers dead, hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis dead, millions of refugees, trillions of dollars wasted. The country is broke, the military is stretched and exhausted, and our civil liberties are disappearing. The federal bench has been filled with subpar, racist judges who will finish dismantling those parts of the republic that Bush and Cheney didn’t get to.
... Because to the corporatists who installed this pair, this is a tsunami of a wet dream.
See, we've got to stop thinking that we have a functioning nation-state, a functioning 3-branch federal government, a functioning 2-party political system, a commitment to privatized risk and socialized benefit, and immutable civil liberties. Gone, baby, gone. If we want'em back, we have to go get them back.
But give the devils their due. The Bush/Cheney presidency has worked absolutely brilliantly for the people who installed it -- and I am not referring to the people who even actually voted for the guys.

Newt had a hand in creating this disaster. It makes me angry, beyond the power of words to discribe, when I see that fraud on TV and being treated as if he was an elder statesman!
