Houston, We have a Problem!

Tom DeLay, the crusader for theocratic justice, the ethically-challenged GOP House Majority Leader and the representative of the 22nd Congressional district of Texas, is reportedly going down in flames. He has been under investigation for the past year and was admonished by the House Ethics committee for illegal fund-raising and political corruption.  Shakespeare's Sister has the dirty lowdown on Tommy Boy over at Big Brass Blog. WaPo (free reg. required) states that DeLay has taken several all-expense paid trips to the U.K., South Korea and Russia thanks to some friendly lobbyists, or as Governor Arnold likes to call them,"special interests". DeLay's family members and staffers have also made some moolah from Tommy's capitalist buddies.

DeLay got involved in the Schiavo episode to try to deflect media attention away from his ethics investigation. However it backfired and put the media spotlight on him. Now its only a matter of time until the GOP decide to cut their losses and remove Hot Tub Tom from that slimy cesspool known as the House Republicans.

I wonder what will happen to the funding of NASA in his district if (or when) he resigns? I guess we can forget about colonizing Mars. I could just picture our astronauts planting the flag on the Red Planet with Halliburton paving the roads and Bechtel providing fresh water . . . ah, only in dreams . . .
