When Reality Intrudes...
See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.
—President Bush, Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005
Wow. I don't think that was in the script. Bushism of the year indeed.
Update: Crooks & Liars has the mp3 and the Whitehouse website has the transcript from the phony town hall meeting at Greece Athena Middle and High School. Onegoodmove has a video clip (quicktime) of Bush's Freudian slip.

Think this will be one of those things he'll repeat "over and over again for the truth to sink in?" Don't count on it.
What a gaffe. The most truthful thing he's said in a LONG time.
Thank you, George. Everything you repeat, I'll make it my work to investigate immediately. Again, thanks for the tip, Mr. President.

Wow.

Yet when anyone with half a clue as to what's going on says the exact same thing about Bush & his henchmen and the rest of the GOP, we're thrown in the tidy pile of "conspiracy theorists".
That quote is pure gold.

Catapult the propagadist. No, Trebuchet him.

" In my line of work" and just what is that Georgie? Propagandist on a bicycle unimformed of what is going on?

Oh, this quote is just RICH. Sadly, only the Englightened Ones will see this quote and think it a) further highlights Not-My-President's stupidity, b) is totally revealing as to the inner machinations of BushCo, c) yet another scathing example of why this guy is running our country's reputation into the ground!

Man, oh man. Of course, the cro-mags at the Free Republic won't even understand what it means.

I hope every American reads and hears this quote; I hope the comprehend what Bush is saying....
Posted by: NeoCon Crusher | May 26, 2005 at 08:51 AM
Unfortunately few people will hear or read this quote. The Freepers will be unable to comprehend it and our American Idiot Media will simply not mention it. Gaffes like these are priceless. I just can't figure out if he's quoting Karl Rove or Joseph Goebbels.

Calm down moonbats. Propaganda can be true or it can be false. Since Bush explicitly said, "for the truth to sink in" it is self evident that he's talking about the true kind. Nothing wrong with true propaganda.

Indeed propaganda can be true or false. But what distinguishes propaganda from solid truth and pure lies respectively is the means by which it is delivered and the purpose for which it is manufactured. Let's start with some definitions shall we...
Propaganda consists of official government communications to the public that are designed to influence opinion. The information may be true or false, but it is always carefully selected for its political effect.
Propaganda has a bad name, but its root meaning is simply to disseminate through a medium, and all writing therefore is propaganda for something. It’s a seeding of the self in the consciousness of others.
Propaganda could contain a mixture of truth, misinformation, and disinformation; the main point is that whatever information there is will be so arranged, edited, and displayed that it will assist the cause the propagandist supports or injure the cause the propagandist hopes to damage. The suppression of information can of course play a part in all three.
Therefore, we are conducting propaganda this very instant. This blog is propaganda and so is yours likwidshoe. The problem we are faced with in this postmodern world is that truth is a concept prone to definition. All we can be sure of is that propaganda serves the interests of power. In Bush's case he is selling his Social Security Plan in order to meet the needs of anti-welfare state corporatists. In my case, I spew propaganda because I dislike the policies of ignorant neoconservative imperialists who wage endless war and would rather protect zygotes than living breathing humans throughout the world.
There’s only one option and that is to stop worrying and Love the Propaganda.
Peace be with you.
