Rummy Goes To Iraq (Again)
22 years later: same American guy, different Iraqi puppet. Hopefully this puppet won't turn on the United States like the last one did.

I wouldn't bet on him staying in power long enough to turn on us. But judging from America's nation building track record I also wouldn't bet on Iraq being a "pro-western" nation for long after we withdraw. That is of course, if we ever withdraw.

Progress is an illusion.

Yes Heretik. Don't forget...ignorance is strength.

Didn't Rumsfeld say he shall return?

Nice catch...I've got a feeling we'll be showing this picture in a few years when we have to re-invade to bring freedom and democracy to the first iraqi democracy. Again. Does that make sense?

Great new banner, Agit. When Rummy meets with leaders, bad things happen.

I hope this isn’t just wishful thinking on my part. I hope there are people that understand the consequences of an early withdrawal, and will withstand the mounting pressure of shortsightedness.

Kira,
Early withdrawal just sounds like PR to me. I think the US will be in Iraq for a long long long time. If we pull out too soon then the country will descend into total chaos (it is at about 55% chaos right now). The interim government would fall and then a new despot would rise to power. But maybe that is what the US wants? That way President Jeb Bush can re-invade Iraq in eight years to "bring democracy" like John said.
Eternal war = eternal profits
I love our foreign policy!

The U.S. will only withdraw as the last Guardsmen get shot.
