The Day After Tomorrow

         Guitar

In what could only be described as an Emporer Nero moment, Chimperor Dubya casually strummed a guitar yesterday while the Gulf Coast states continued to drown. As an American I would expect our leader to do everything in his power to help those in need. As a guitarist I am deeply troubled at the sight of Bush touching my favorite instrument.

Here the bloggers weigh in on Hurricane Katrina:

  • The Heretik:  George W. Bush as the Invisible Caesar American.
  • RJ Eskow:  A rudderless ship adrift in the gulf.
  • Tattered Coat:  Matt has excellent coverage of Atlantis and ways to help.
  • Broken Windows:  Kate has been keeping track of the damage.
  • Liberal Revolt:  Please remember our blogger friend Vaughn this week. He is, or was, a resident of New Orleans. He and his wife are now refugees and their home most likely destroyed.
  • BoingBoing: A Tale of Two Photos (Bush + Geetar)

Please help. There are a variety of ways to do so.

Network for Good:  Hurricane Katrina has blazed a trail of devastation throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Across the Gulf Coast, Katrina engulfed thousands of homes and decimated the landscape in what could become the most destructive storm in U.S. history. Victims are stranded and in need of immediate medical care, food and water, and tens of thousands of people will need temporary housing for months. Help people affected by this storm by making a donation today.

Your Dog Bit You Where?!?

Psycho dog with Napoleon complex + Frantic lady with foreign accent =

Must-see clip!

I'm not sure who is crazier. The dog or its owner.

Thank heavens Cairo is a happy and well-adjusted puppy.

Die Cindy Die!

There's a battle waging under the hellish sun in Crawford, Texas. It's an ideological battle as well as well as a battle for the truth. In some ways it is a battle for the soul of America. In my opinion I think the Sheehan thing is running out of steam. If people want to end this war then they can't rely on just one mother. Cindy Sheehan can't hold the entire weight of the anti-war movement on her shoulders. She has started something unique but the left must act now and demand that their elected officials act too. That's if they can get past those who would like to see Cindy Sheehan's head on a pole. (Check out Neil Shakespeare's fab work).

Cindy Sheehan and her supporters at Camp Casey have been challenged by a group of pro-war activists calling themselves the "You Don't Speak For Me Cindy Tour". These Bush supporters have established Camp Reality Kool Aid across the road from Camp Casey. The "You Don't Speak For Me Cindy Tour" started in California and made its way via caravan to Crawford to tell Cindy that she doesn't speak for them. So, exactly, who are these people whom Cindy Sheehan does not speak for?

MorganThis counter-protest is organized by the friendly folks at the Orwellian-named Move America Forward, a self-proclaimed "non-partisan" organization. But Move America Forward is in fact a right-wing political advocacy group founded and headed by California Republicans and staff members of the public relations firm Russo Marsh and Rogers, which has strong ties to the Republican Party. Well of course Cindy doesn't speak for these fascist warmongers. Anti-Sheehan protest leader and conservative talk radio host Melanie Morgan doesn't have children in Iraq so why would she care about Peace Mom Cindy?

Morgan might be a somewhat attractive bubble-headed bleached blonde that resembles Stifler's Mom from American Pie, but she's really a wingnut psycho hose beast who chooses to sublimate her repressed gambling addiction by yelling anti-Sheehan outbursts from Camp Kool Aid. Yes, I said gambling addiction. Her penchant for dice and poker chips was so heinous back in the 1990's that she had her very own made-for-TV movie called High Stakes: The Melanie Morgan Story! When the Lifetime Network makes a movie about you then you know you have serious problems. I looked far and wide but was unable to find any pictures from this 1997 movie so I made my own poster seen to the right.

Truth Out has some great reports and video clips from Camp Casey vs. Camp Kool Aid. My favorite one is the war supporter who says he won't join the military to fight in Iraq because he can "better serve here in America". Make sure to check out the gal with the "Kick Their Ass and Take Their Gas" sign. If Toby Keith is smart he'll snatch that catchy phrase for his next hit single "Stealin' Oil For Jesuz".

The Ministry of Reshelving Needs You!

Cue theme music.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to join the Ministry of Reshelving in its campaign to reshelve all copies of George Orwell's 1984 at bookstores across Oceania The United States. In particular, you are to remove these novels from the fiction and literature sections of your local bookstore and relocate them to their appropriate places in the non-fiction, current events and/or politics sections. You must also place a "Ministry of Reshelving" calling card on the bookshelf to indicate that 1984 has been relocated to its rightful place.

More information can be found at prankster Jane McGonigal's place Avant Game. If you actually do this let me know. I love pranks. I plan on executing more in the near future.

During my lunch hour today I reshelved 1984 at a bookstore in Costa Mesa, CA. The novels are now located in the "New Non-Fiction" section and in the "Politics" section to the right of Bill O'Reilly's books:

1984

If Orwell were alive today I think he'd like the idea. More pics at Flickr: The Ministry of Reshelving.

Thanks to Blondesense for the tip.

Dumbass Democrats

Gary Hart earlier this week in a WaPo editorial:

The real defeatists today are not those protesting the war. The real defeatists are those in power and their silent supporters in the opposition party who are reduced to repeating "Stay the course" even when the course, whatever it now is, is light years away from the one originally undertaken. The truth is we're way off course. We've stumbled into a hornet's nest. We've weakened ourselves at home and in the world. We are less secure today than before this war began.

Last night I watched CNN Presents: 'Dead Wrong:' Inside an Intelligence Meltdown. This was probably the best coverage of the Iraq War intelligence failures that I've witnessed in the MSM. While it is clear that the Bush administration manipulated the raw intelligence from the CIA and packaged it into a slam dunk smoking gun case, most Democrats in Congress voted for the war.

Therefore, let me go on record here and personally thank the Democrats in Congress for the Iraq War. You bastards are as much to blame for this war as our Chimperor in Chief.

So much for an opposition party . . .

UPDATE:  It appears that some other folks have noticed the leadership vaccum on the left side of the aisle. Shakespeare's Sister writes about Frank Rich's latest column and the two-party collective stinkfest.

PROTEST: Sunni Arabs in the town of Baqubah, north of Baghdad, chant pro-Saddam Hussein slogans at a rally against the draft constitution and its provision for regional autonomy. (Faris Mahdawi / Reuters)

Holy Shiite Batman! The anti-Constitution fervor has even spread outside the Sunni communities. Juan Cole notes that 100,000 followers of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr rallied in eight cities yesterday to protest the "American authored" Constitution.

Poor Mr. Bush. He and his NeoClowns just can't win can they?

The One Year Anniversary of Agitprop

I almost forgot. I wrote my first post at Agitprop one year ago today! My first post is Bechtel: The Thirsty Developer. The original post is located here at Agitprop version 1.0 which I started on Blogger. I upgraded to Agitprop version 2.0 when I moved to Typepad in March 2005.

I think I've improved somewhat over the past year. I've definitely learned a thing or two about photoshop, although I have much more to learn if I truly want to aspire to the greatness of the photoshop master.

Bush Unhinged

Bush_yellWhat do you do as president when a majority of Americans believe that the Iraq War was a mistake? You wine and scream like a spoiled child in cabinet meetings:

“Who gives a flying fuck what the polls say,” he screamed at a recent strategy meeting. “I’m the President and I’ll do whatever I goddamned please. They don’t know shit.”

Battle For The Forty-Eighth

Orangebig2

Ever since President Bush appointed my Congressman Christopher Cox to head the SEC, the 48th Congressional district of California has been gearing up for a special election. I have officially decided not to run for the seat. I don't think Orange County is ready for Agi T. Prop just yet.

CA-48 has the complete list of candidates--all seventeen of them. Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, is officially in the race running under the American Independent Party. He will probably garner a few votes from the Mexican-haters and white supremacists.

The favorite in the race is State Senator John Campbell. Just last week his campaign signs popped up all over my city. The OC Blog notes that Campbell has been endorsed by Gen NeXt, a group of young conservative businessmen. Gen NeXt is affiliated with the New Majority, a group of at least 150 fiscally conservative and socially moderate Orange County multimillionaires.

If the OC millionaires got his back, then Campbell is already in. I probably won't bother voting because a Republican is bound to win. Hell would literally freeze over if a Democrat won the seat. Campbell probably has Arnold's approval. And Chimpy probably likes him too . . .

                         Campbell_bush

I might as well get used to Congressman Campbell and his positions. According to Vote Smart, he gets a 100% rating from conservative groups, a grade "A" from the NRA, about 10% from civil rights groups and a whopping 0% from environmental groups. He'll fit right in down here!
