Jimmy Carter, American Traitor
Last week's target of the Republican blogosphere slime machine was Jane Fonda, who announced that she will be taking a cross-country bus trip to promote her stupid book oppose a stupid war. This week, it's ex-president Jimmy Carter who has fallen off his rockers:
BIRMINGHAM, England -- Former President Carter said Saturday the detention of terror suspects at the Guantanamo Bay Naval base was an embarrassment and had given extremists an excuse to attack the United States.
Carter also criticized the U.S.-led war in Iraq as "unnecessary and unjust." "I think what's going on in Guantanamo Bay and other places is a disgrace to the U.S.A.," he told a news conference at the Baptist World Alliance's centenary conference in Birmingham, England. "I wouldn't say it's the cause of terrorism, but it has given impetus and excuses to potential terrorists to lash out at our country and justify their despicable acts."
Carter said, however, that terrorist acts could not be justified, and that while Guantanamo "may be an aggravating factor ... it's not the basis of terrorism."
Can you believe the nerve of this guy? Only a malicious anti-American traitor would criticize a regime that invaded a country on false pretenses, allowed the killing of 25,000 civilians, promoted torture and extraordinary rendition and gave billions of reconstruction dollars to greedy private contractors. How dare Carter criticize the nation he once led as president!
Thank God Jimmy Carter didn't get a second term. Imagine all the peasants, priests and nuns that would still be living today in Central America if Carter had won the 1980 election. Luckily Ronald Reagan came to save the day, helping to fund the contras and death squads in Central America and faithfully supplying our then-ally Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction.

Don't you people call Carter 'The nice guy who finished last'? I seem to have heard that somewhere before. It seems like most politicians would finish last if they are nice guys.
