My Refridgerator, R.I.P.
Well, the heat of the summer finally got to our old fridge. She is beyond repair and has bitten the dust once and for all. Just when I thought we would be able to save some extra cash this summer, now I have to fork out money for a new fridge. Luckily I'm close to both a Sears and a Best Buy.
I hope one of these stores offer same-day delivery because that will be their top selling point. Mrs. Prop and I are having a huge party tonight and we will definitely need a fridge for the evening. Speaking of that party, I would love to invite the regular patrons of Lefty's Lounge over to our place tonight for a real non-digital drink. However, I realize that is logistically impossible considering most of these folks are spread across our fair nation.
Well, wish me luck on my adventure.

Good luck on the adventure. I accidentally/stupidly killed my fridge last year. (I'm an impatient defroster, and employed a screwdriver.) I don't know where you're located, but P.C. Richard gave me the best buy in NYC.

I got same day delivery from Sears back in 1998. It was 108 degrees outside. I got a model that the salesman said all the college students buy because it had a tiny freezer but tons of room in the fridge for beer. It lasted until I remodeled my kitchen and I sold it for 150 bucks! I only paid like 499. I hope you get a good deal.

Wishing you luck on that. We had to get a new one this Spring. It happens...and always at the most inopportune (is that a word?) time. ;)

Show a little initiative, for crying out loud. Call it a refrigerator party, and manuever your guests into ponying up the dough to buy a new one.

If I remember correctly,August is supposed to be one of the months major appliances go on sale to make way for next year's new stuff.Hopefully you'll get a good deal,a basic fridge without alot of bells and whistles shouldn't cost too much.

er -- that was supposed to be "toasting to the end of these dark days."
I hope the new fridge works out.

When ours croaked, we couldn't get delivery for 4 days(of course, we are in the sticks) from Sears, but they gave us a loaner that fit into the back of the van. No freezer space, but about 30% of your standard fridge. Unless you are planning elaborate chilled delicacies like sculpted gelatin salads, get gusts to bring their coolers by.
Another option (but it means about $80)would be picking up an electric cooler-AC/DC so it is useful for long trips when not subbing for your real fridge. Ours even will double as a warmer and keep hot foods hot. Damn, that reminds me, we need to find the power cord beforwe our labor day vacation road trip...
