The Day After Tomorrow
In what could only be described as an Emporer Nero moment, Chimperor Dubya casually strummed a guitar yesterday while the Gulf Coast states continued to drown. As an American I would expect our leader to do everything in his power to help those in need. As a guitarist I am deeply troubled at the sight of Bush touching my favorite instrument.
Here the bloggers weigh in on Hurricane Katrina:
- The Heretik: George W. Bush as the Invisible Caesar American.
- RJ Eskow: A rudderless ship adrift in the gulf.
- Tattered Coat: Matt has excellent coverage of Atlantis and ways to help.
- Broken Windows: Kate has been keeping track of the damage.
- Liberal Revolt: Please remember our blogger friend Vaughn this week. He is, or was, a resident of New Orleans. He and his wife are now refugees and their home most likely destroyed.
- BoingBoing: A Tale of Two Photos (Bush + Geetar)
Please help. There are a variety of ways to do so.
Network for Good: Hurricane Katrina has blazed a trail of devastation throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Across the Gulf Coast, Katrina engulfed thousands of homes and decimated the landscape in what could become the most destructive storm in U.S. history. Victims are stranded and in need of immediate medical care, food and water, and tens of thousands of people will need temporary housing for months. Help people affected by this storm by making a donation today.

What kind of pretentious asshole does it take to slap the Presidential seal on a guitar? It's not a regular guitar, like the peons among us might play.
This is a Presidential guitar, and you can't have one.
What a cocksucker.

I seem to recal old Nero's words: 'what n artist dies in me(Qvalis artifex pereo if memory serves), so all Bush need do is die. Personaly I'll take a little compensation so long as he steers clear of the bass, my own weapon of choice.
Incidentaly, appropos of music and hurricanes, a few years ago there was a British band called 'Katrina and the Waves' so we've been enjoying a number of rather tasteles jokes, for what it is worth, I'm sorry...

Can you believe it? Bush on the git fiddle while the whole gulf coast sinks beneath the sea. And All I thought he played with was his own dick! Or at the most, Rove's.

Oh, you crack me up, mister!!
Well, let's see... so far, he's 1) read my pet goat while the WTC towers exploded and collapsed; 2) did a skit making fun of WMDs while our boys were getting killed in Iraq; 3) played guitar and golf while the biggest natural disaster was washing people to their deaths.
And a few dozen others.
What a consummate, sociopathic waste of space dumbya is. And, what the hell is wrong with those who like him? I'm telling you, they ain't right in the haid. They ain't!

That part really pissed me off. It makes me want to put a "Fuck Bush" sticker on my guitar. Does he have to have his seal on everything?!
Yes Helen, it's hard to imagine that there are people out there who support this man-monkey. And where was he again last December when the Asian tsunami killed about 200,000 people? I think it took him a day or two to say anything about it, and then he only wanted to give a measley $350 million...

He's just pissed because the asshole who gave him the guitar didn't bother to have "President George W. Bush" inlaid on the neck.

"Oh give me a home
Where the rats and snakes roam
And the corpses are floating in the streets.

Helen, you are right, the people who support this fool ain't right in the haid. How the hell could anyone like this guy? His grinning interview on Diane Sawyer this morning was too much, but at least he didn't bring along his guitar.

He honestly, really JUST wants to get on with his life. I am starting to believe that that particular phrase tells us more than we'd like to know about him. He doesn't feel responsible for anything anymore. He just wants to play a guitar with his seal on it. He just wants to ride his bike, clear brush and golf.
What a clueless and harmful chimpy indeed.
