Support The War, Screw The Troops
"To remember the victims of Sept. 11, 2001; to honor U.S. troops and veterans; and to highlight the value of freedom." -- Donald Rumsfeld, announcing the purpose of the America Supports You Freedom March
Today the Pentagon highlights the values of freedom by throwing a militaristic parade filled with 9/11 references and country music. All this talk of freedom is making me weary. I'm sick of people using the word like parrots hyped up on amphetamines.
They hate us for our freedom. We were attacked by freedom-haters. The military fights to protect our freedom. We love freedom. We are spreading freedom in Iraq . . .
Have we forgotten the meaning of the word "freedom"?
free·dom n.
- The condition of being free of restraints.
- Liberty of the person from slavery, detention, or oppression.
- Political independence.
- Exemption from the arbitrary exercise of authority in the performance of a specific action; civil liberty: freedom of assembly.
According to this definition, the United States military (and all militaries for that matter) would personify the complete antithesis of freedom. Since when are G.I.'s free to do anything other than what their commanding officers tell them to do? The word "freedom" has been perverted by our rulers to signify obedience to authority. Freedom has become the new tyranny. It's a mental clusterf*%k to put it lightly.
Thankfully, OYE Contributor Reverend Mykeru will be infiltrating the Pentagon's America Support You Freedom March. I commend him on his efforts and look forward to seeing the results of his mission. It is a noble and difficult cause to recruit young chickenhawks and yellow elephants into our leader's Eternal War to Resubjugate Brown People. Yellow elephants might be dumb but they're not stupid. They happily rally around a war for freedom but refuse to join that war due to the unfreedom it entails.
According to the Washington Post, Rummy's Fantastic Fascist Extravaganza is going to create quite a traffic problem due to the multitude of events in D.C. today. I hope Reverend Mykeru uses this opportunity to recruit some Redskins fans too. Barbarians who delight in wearing face paint could be highly effective at clearing out insurgents from Iraqi villages.

I was listening to some reporter on NPR and the funniest thing she said was how no one was allowed on the "march" unless they had signed up (or applied, more like it). WTF? Why couldn't just any ol' citizen attend the 'march of freedoms'? Because only the chosen can.
Fascist fucks, the lot of 'em.

Hello Mr. Agitprop,
I very much enjoyed this post, especially the "parrots on amphetamines". That's the best description of these people I've heard to date. I am guest-blogging for Neil and Osama and have posted my own story with a link to your blog (I hope I've done it right). I'm afraid I have reverted to the old-fashioned sheep image.
Best regards,
Amariah.
