On September 29th, Fox News "military analyst" Col. David Hunt (US Army-Retarded) called for Southern District of New York judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, to be "drawn and quartered" for ordering DOD to release more Abu Ghraib photographs. His diatribe - wait for it - came on Fox's The O'Reilly Factor.
Let's go to the videotape. Now this is not my area, but 18 U.S.C. § 115(a)(1)(B) provides a penalty for threatening to murder a federal judge of 20 years imprisonment, a fine, or both. And although Judge Hellerstein deserves nothing more than reversal by the 2nd Circuit if he's wrong, his opinion in ACLU v. Department of Defense (No. 04-CV-04151) seems well-reasoned to me.
Still, Hunt wants more for Judge Hellerstein.David ("We're Gonna 'Do' Fallujah") Hunt is apparently able to pay the fine (having written a book that sold a few copies after fellow nutcase Pat Robertson plugged it). He is certainly able to do the time. I know he and most of Wingnuttia believe that Clinton judges are Satan's children, but how clever is it to threaten a sitting federal judge on national television? Is Hunt's analysis of anything, military or otherwise, at all reliable? And will he be indicted?
