Didn't They Learn Anything Back in 1995?
You would think the Repugs learned something after being blamed for shutting down the government in 1995 in service of their ideology. But no. Not satisfied with having pissed everyone off in their attempt to shut down the U.S., now "diplomat" John Bolton is attempting to shut down the U.N. He wants to prevent passage of "the organisation's 2006 budget until member states approve wide-ranging management reforms."
At this point, even the Poodle's government is against Bolton. When Bu$hCo loses the Brits, game over! [via Raw Story.]

this is what you get when a bunch of selfish, greedy assholes hold the reigns to the world's monetary system.
civilization exists for them; if we don't willingly serve them, they will dispense with us.

I have become convinced that the neocons are intent on destroying everything sacred and good about this country.
This administration is so cynical- they put people in charge of commissions and agencies who have a demonstrated hostility towards the agencies they have been selected to run- whether its the UN, EPA, FDA, Office of Civil Rights they are attempting to undo each agency.

( Love the new Raw Story Ticker - nice touch) I have a dumb question. Is there ANY way that Bolton can be removed from this position ? ie. If he were part of the Plame Leak Situation ?- could the Senate ask for his removal ?

Once he's confirmed (or in this case, appointed), I think he's in unless Bush fires him. Because this was a recess appointment, his time is up sometime, I believe, in 2007.

Since we only just got off the topic of nerds... Isn't Bolton really just some kinda proto Buzz Droid?

I get a little confused about Bolton. Isn't the UN made up of many other nations? Who does he think he is to get in there and boss the place?
It's Great Britain's move now. If they keep standing up to the Walrus, then they might make him completely irrelevant on the UN stage.

I'm waiting for the headline: "BOLTON TAKES BAT & BALL AND GOES HOME: VOWS HE IS ONLY ONE WHO GETS TO PLAY WITH HIS BALLS FROM NOW ON"

I am no fan of Mr. Bolton. It made no sense to me that W. would appoint this awful man, who was certainly no diplomat as reported by numerous folks) to be our ambassador to the world. Of course, it also made no sense to me, that Brownie, of Arabian horse fame, would be put in charge of FEMA. Bolton is a jerk, Brown incompetent. The inmates are running the asylum.

The buzz droids are designed to disable, not destroy, enemy craft. They operate quickly, slicing into starship hulls and severing vital control linkages. While their tools are effective, they are relatively weak and vulnerable to damage. A hit to its central eye can knock a buzz droid out of commission.
Good call.
