Ann Coulter ...
Promote Truth, Or Continue the Fun and Games?
Normally, when Media Matters says jump, we here at Agitprop ask: "How high?" email O'Reilly and demand he retract his latest lie? We click "Send" instantly! Send a dozen condoms and some lube to Benedict XVI with a note about his manifest silliness? Do you want that by regular post or overnight?
But here we hesitate. On November 29th, Media Matters asked that we "Click here to contact CNN and let it know that [Ann] Coulter's hate and misinformation don't belong on network news." So what to do?
If Coulter gets less exposure, she will leave a void that even O'Reilly won't be able to fill. She can make more false and outrageous statements before breakfast than any of us could spit out in a calendar year. Like this. Or this. Or this, this, this, or this, and of course this. And this. And don't forget this. Or these.
She is a full employment act for non-con bloggers. She is bound to have a raving, babbling breakdown on camera at some point from lack of nourishment. She is, in short, a treasure. Three times we held our fingers over the mouse, and three times we have been unable to click. You try it ... see? You'd miss her too.

Geez, B., if we got rid of her maybe we could get Jessica Simpson! She could even have her own program, 'These Boots Are Made For Talkin''. Oh wait a minute. That's Condi's themsesong isn't it?

Don't fall for the anti-Coulter trap - She will have the last laugh. This kind of stuff is, for her, like electricty is to Godzilla. Coulter is a performace artist - in some respects she is like Lenny Bruce. Bruce used to be able to get that speck of foam to appear in the corner of Joe's Itch's mouth - Coulter does the same thing to upscale liberals.
Forget what Coulter says about x, y, or z - that is just material she uses to get reaction from people that she knows well. She knows their emotional vulnerabilities and she knows how to tap into their snobbery, which is counter to their state beliefs. She's really good at, once you see her as a performer, rather than a pundit.
Look at that absurd photo - it's a dead giveaway.

Ok, that was funny.
And I am impressed with your virtual library of hateful Ann propaganda.
It's true that she is her own worst enemy and she makes the Right look like a bunch of damn fools. But what bothers me is that the networks kind of legitimize her (and bill o'reilly). Who on the left do they have on their programs that is absolutely outright nuts? Who on the left do they have on their programs on a regular basis that compares righties to nazis, calls for the bombing of San Fransisco, the bombing of the NYT building, says that [former]Senator Max Clelland Lost his legs and arm on a beer run in Saigon? I mean, come on. Why do they indulge her?
And lets be totally honest here- if Ann Coulter was 290 lbs, had frizzy hair and was pockmarked, do you think she'd be all over the airwaves? Let me answer that one for ya. No.

ps. do you think ann wears the wonder bra?
I do.

Freedom of speech dude.

That's the point Stacy. It's typecasting - It's not her looks, per se, but how her particular looks dovetail with a certain longstanding rightist aesthetic.
If Coulter changed her political views, she would have to change her looks too - otherwise she would not be nearly as successfull. Anyway, once again, I think you're missing the whole game - Coulter is a Blues State person with Red State views, who pretends to have Red State tastes, while living a very Blue State life.
It's a game - and a very lucrative one at that.

What gets me is how no one calls her out on her game- she's the quintissential elitist- born with a silver spoon in her mouth- I think she was born on the east coast, a lawyer, wealthy, dates the rich and famous, part of the media elite. How can she even make money off bashing the "liberal elite" and how can even the MSM not call her on it?
She has the right to say whatever she damn well pleases but I think at times the media is afraid of her. At least thats the sense I get.

Media Matters needs to mind itself on this one. Because it's all about the legs. My God, the LEGS!

Don't acknowledge the spirits, if you look at them they will feed on your lifeforce. Damn Poltergiests.

And what about those bustiers she sports on her book covers? Now if we could just get a whip and some thigh-high leather boots, I might re-register as a Republican.

Steady man, don't click on that CNN link, Blogenfreud. Chances are that she will have some sort of final, dramatic, break. Whether or not it will be hunger induced, or she will finally succumb to the voices, is hard to predict. O'Rielly looks to be nearly there. They must be allowed to implode on the air for the edification of us all--every ivory tower elitist and mouth breathing sister humper alike.

I'm with you, blogenfreud. I suspect that if Ann Coulter were excised from the airways, that, much like the Hydra, two fascist party dolls(tm Richard Belzer) would take her place.

legs? you're joking right?
she looks like a particularly scary scare-crow in that pic

Funny. Now, I'm an open minded Democrat. I'll watch Fox News from time to time, even O'Reilly (for the entertainment value). So I picked up "Slander" on Audio CD the other day from the library. I was curious as to why exactly Stephanie Miller referring to her as "Noted Transexual Plaigerist Ann Coulter", and what exactly she was saying that made her, in the eyes of most of my liberal friends, a complete nutcase.
Get in the car... put in the CD...
She lost me at the third line "It's all the liberal's fault."
That's about all I could take.

Yeah, I'd hate to see her go -- she provides so much good blog fodder. I'm telling myself the same thing about Roy Moore; if he's elected governor of my beloved Alabama, I'll have more material than I could ever cover.

She is so mean and shrill that she makes my head positively twirl!
