Dear Leader to World's Largest Democracy ...
"BITE ME!"
Well, the Dear Leader didn't do it yet. But an Indian columnist asks why Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, got away with this sort of behavior. He also asks what would have happened if this headline had appeared:
So why do the Saudis get to lift their legs on other people's religions? Must be the oil ...
UPDATE: So did Bush's staff really make the gaffe? Clickez ici ... maybe a misread (shocking!) by the Indian newspaper?

A brilliant post.

how come the scots get this news, but we don't? herr goebbels must be really busy here these days. i mean, carl rove must be losing his jowl-popping appetite, what with seeing the validity and viability of his neo-fascist intellectual legacy in a state of chaotic evaporation, much like a wad of spit on a hot griddle.

Cremation is a pagan ritual? Since when? And does that mean that W avoids US churches that have memorial gardens for the ashes of their members? Huh? I'm just really confused.
Oh, I know. W doesn't want to be seen honoring a peacemaker. He already got raked over the coals (hey!) at Coretta Scott King's funeral; maybe he's afraid he might hear some more hard truth.

He is such an embarrassment.

I hate to rain on Bush's parade but nowhere in the either the Old or New Testament does it forbid cremation. It is mentioned in the older text. The Roman Catholic church banned cremation in 1886 but that was more political than religious. That excuse doesn't hold water and his faith does frown on lying and murder but he doesn't seem to have a problem with those.

Bush happens to belong to the most unenlightened group of Jesus freakers, the far right wing. They still think bubble gum will send you to hell. For gawd sake, these foreigners might chew gum!

Wow, way to be a leader and exude tolerance.

We can't Bushie that much credit. He probably thinks cremation is an instant coffee creamer. M

Would papers that publish the cartoons of Muhammad also publish cartoons that show the hypocrisy in Christian and Jewish cultures and risk offending their audience and advertisers? NO. http://www.expensivespeech.com/

Can our leader pronounce Mahatma Gandhi, let alone spell it?
Love on ya, Blogenfreude. Lovin' the little greenies.

I've never been aware that Christians are forbidden to visit anywhere... I'd like to see where he got that idea. What a tool.

I would be the first to ridicule our idiot in chief if this were, in fact, true. Read the entire article and you will see that the author was using W as a surrogate for the misdeeds of a saudi ruler in an attempt to criticize the Indian left-wing media outlets.
Too bad for us. I thought this was a bit more fuel for the inferno.

Evening Blogenfreude,
Good Post! And I am wondering where this Gospel of Jesus Christ is. What a stupid man, our president is. There are 4 Gospels about Jesus's life but Jesus did not write them, they were written by 4 of his apostles, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
As far as cremation...it is not pagan, it is excepted in the Church.

I stumbled across your blog while I was doing some online research. It is unfortunate that there is so much disrespect paid to religions that do not conform to our own personal beliefs. How wonderful if we could all just accept religious diversity.
