At Agitprop, today's voting was done on one of those ancient lever machines - the last time they'll be used in New York. A poll worker sat on the port side and reset the machine after each voter exited. One voter who looked like a Republican was in the polling place, but you can never be sure here in New York City. The day's first bit of good news is that top GOP strategists are conceding the House. On the other hand, Palast thinks the election has already been stolen.
So what's up with the wingnuts on what should turn out to be a very bad day for them? Ken Mehlman says Democrats "depend on activist judges to hand them the victories they can't win at the ballot box." Oh really? Rush and Tony Snow say Democrats have lost voters that are white, or male, or female. Who's left? Dick Cheney will spend the day hunting with his daughter Mary (TBogg predicts she won't get shot because it's not lesbian season in South Dakota ... yet).
What else? At The New York Times, winning could be the same as losing for the Dems. Republican attempts at voter suppression are spreading. And voting problems? Of course - this is the Age of Bush!
So go vote - don't disappoint The General. It's especially important to get out and vote because the more votes the Dems pile up, the more difficult it will be for the Republicans to steal 'em.
I'm in NY too, love those old machines. It feels like voting.

Hell ya, New York here as well...you're in, switch the switches, throw the lever, and 2min. later your out and walking down the street with a smile on your face.

One voter who looked like a Republican...
Help me here. I still have trouble spotting them. What makes someone look like they're Repug?

New Yorker here as well, and goddam, but why can't we use those machines all around the country? They work, and you could easily upgrade them to count the votes electronically at the end of the day, plus there's a visual tally on the side of the machine as a double check to the number of actual voters.
