The Iraq War must be brought to a swift conclusion. The economy could
use some work. The environment could stand cleaning up. The rest of the
world needs to be assured that this criminal administration won’t
attack a couple more sovereign nations before next January. And that
same criminal administration needs to be investigated - vigorously.
So is Senator Arlen “Magic Bullet” Specter interested in doing any of this? No. Instead, he wants to investigate … the New England Patriots.
So what the fuck is wrong with Arlen? He’s stretched out on the fainting couch because the NFL destroyed some tapes the Patriots made of the New York Jets’ defensive signals or some such shit:
“I am very concerned about the underlying facts on the taping, the reasons for the judgment on the limited penalties and, most of all, on the inexplicable destruction of the tapes,” said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., in a Thursday letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Are you fucking kidding me? Arlen - it’s a fucking game! Sure, it’s played by millionaires and given special status by what’s left of our Republic, but who gives a flying fuck?
NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during New England’s 38-14 victory over the New York Jets. The employee was accused of aiming his camera at the Jets’ defensive coaches as they signaled to players on the field.
[snip]
“The American people are entitled to be sure about the integrity of the game,” Specter said in a telephone interview with the newspaper. “It’s analogous to the CIA destruction of tapes. Or any time you have records destroyed.”
No no no. No it is not analogous Arlen. Multiple violations of the Geneva Conventions are not the same thing as whether a bunch of overpaid thyroid cases cheated in a game. Sayeth Chargers’ coach Norv Turner:
“We take the same precautions every week,” Turner said. “We change signals on a weekly basis. We have different ways of signaling them in and different ways of calling them in. It’s not been an issue for us.”
Arlen - hear that? It’s NOT A BIG FUCKING DEAL. So go tend to something important, ‘kay?
One more thing: GO GIANTS!
Megan … please don’t ban me for that last one. And thanks for doing the graphic.
Let’s have a Super Bowl thread below.

How did you like that uber-patriotic introduction to the Super Bowl on Fox? Am Cop has a great take on Sunday's festivities.

I'm really expect the decision of withdrawing troops from Iraq at least before Presidential election, after the election I won't think it'll happen soon. It is the first time in the history of NFL, the coach fined to such a huge amount.
