3) This is not the week that we will finally get to read the Bush/Blair al-Jazeera bomb threat memos, but maybe next week (hey, we needed at least one gimme'). Correct, but we can't sink this low. 0 points.

After a week off to lick our wounds since going zero for three last time, Agitprop Predicts returns:

1) This is the week when Parliament will launch its investigation into Tony Blair's handling of pre-war intelligence. Not yet. 0 points.

2) Someone will leak one or both of the Bush/Blair "Let's Bomb al-Jazeera" memos. Not yet. 0 points.

3) After a hue and cry from the media (which will not be as big as it should be), the Justice Department will allow re-examination of the most recent Scalito documents - "[o]nly reporters were granted 180 minutes to peruse 470 pages of information ... it would take about 39 seconds to quickly read each page and figure out if the information was newsworthy or worth pursuing further." Feh! 0 points.

2) Someone will leak one or both of the Bush/Blair "Let's Bomb al-Jazeera" memos.

3) After a hue and cry from the media (which will not be as big as it should be), the Justice Department will allow re-examination of the most recent Scalito documents - "[o]nly reporters were granted 180 minutes to peruse 470 pages of information ... it would take about 39 seconds to quickly read each page and figure out if the information was newsworthy or worth pursuing further."

2) Bad Witch of the Midwest Jean Schmidt will issue an apology to John Murtha. While it did not sound like it (more like: "I'm sorry I got caught" rather than "I'm sorry"), it was widely reported that Mean Jean did apologize. 1 point.

3) At least two senators will join Biden's call for an Alito filibuster based on his race rulings; there will be no mention of an abortion filibuster, however. 1 point - looks like Reid and Kennedy have done this.

Well, We Try To Predict the News So You Don't Have To ...

1) Scooter Libby will begin to (or will be reported to begin to) cooperate with Plamegate prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who seems to be trying to get Libby to flip on Rove, Cheney, or both. 0 points (not even close).

2) Bush will make an astounding gaffe on his Asia trip (not just the usual misstatements). 1 point - I think his call for the Chinese to print Bibles qualifies.

3) MPs organizing to impeach the Poodle, Tony Blair, will announce by the end of the week that they have over 200 cross-party signatures as necessary to force the Commons to set up a Privy Council investigation that would examine in detail the case against Blair. 0 points (and wishful thinking ...).

The Fallout: Week 3

Well, there you go again ...

1) DeLay's motion to transfer venue will be denied; the motion for a speedy trial will be granted. 0 points (hearing is not until Nov. 22nd, so this is shelved until later).

2) Rove will not resign, but the drumbeat for him to do so will become louder. The "drumbeat for him to do so will become louder ..." ? Could we have been more imprecise? Still, Kos reported last week (note timing prom-blem) even the GOP anti-Rove noise level had gone up. However, the NYT reported Nov. 10th that Rove seemed to be back to his old ways. 1/2 a point (he didn't resign, but unclear whether there are any serious additions to the cast aligned against him).

3) Schwarzenegger's ballot measures will be soundly rejected by California voters. 1 point (sweet!).

The math: 1.5 out of 3 possible; this week .500; overall batting average: .444.

Our Predictive Abilities Improve ... A Bit.

Last weeks predictions, and the results:

1) Bush will announce a Supreme Court choice widely viewed as a right-wing nutcase. 1 point - read about it here.

2) Scooter the Indicted will reach a plea deal with Fitzgerald, or it will be reported that his lawyer is in talks seeking such a deal. 0 points - in fact, Scooter's new lawyer has said (tongue-in-cheek?) that he will fight to the death.

3) DeLay's motion to transfer venue will be denied, but he'll get a new judge; the motion for a speedy trial will also be granted. The hearing is November 1st. 1/2 point for the new judge; the rest will have to wait.

Overall batting average: .420. This week: .500.

Results of Last Week's Predictions

Last week, in aid of our unceasing efforts to expose Bu$hCo propaganda, we introduced a new feature: Agitprop Predicts. And now, it's, er, judgment day. The results:

1) Plamegate indictments will be announced Wednesday (Fitzmas Day), there will be at least 15, and they will include Libby (for leaking) and Rove (for perjury). Could we have been more wrong? 0 points.

2) DeLay's motion to transfer venue will be denied, but he'll get a new judge; the motion for a speedy trial will also be granted. We still stand by this prediction, but because it did not happen this week (the hearing is Nov. 1st), no dice. 0 points.

3) Miers will withdraw her name from consideration for the Supremes. 1 point.

Batting average = .333

So hang on for our next set of predictions, up on Sunday.
