Brice McMillan, 41, told Edgecombe County deputies last week that he tied his son to a tree in the family's yard at 1110 Felton Farm Road and forced him to sleep outside Tuesday and Wednesday nights because he was misbehaving, the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office said.

Stepmother Sandra McMillan, 36, found Tyler unresponsive around 4:30 p.m. Thursday after being tied to the tree since Wednesday night. He was pronounced dead at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.

No Christian Left Behind Edition!

Considering today is 6.6.06, I've decided to drop in from my usual digs for a guest post. Thanks to Blogenfreude for letting me back in to my old waterhole…

                  

It is not entirely clear to me how allowing same-sex partners to marry violates the sanctity of marriage. I would assume that gay marriage strengthens the institution of marriage since more people would be pledging life-long commitments to each other.

Let's be clear, the major threat to the institution of marriage is adultery. Therefore, we must pass a constitutional amendment to ban adultery. This is the only true Biblical-based way to protect the sanctity of marriage:

If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

This constitutional amendment would require putting to death thousands of Republicans. But let us not stop there. The Christo-Fascist zombie brigade claim to be true followers of God's law. So why are they willfully ignoring the numerous laws set forth in the Holy Buybull? How dare they practice limp-wristed, liberal pansy Christianity! To complete the downward spiral to theocracy we must implement Judeo-Christian Biblical law in perpetuity.

Well, what do you expect? A Gallup poll shows that more than half of us 'Murricans reject evolution and believe in the biblical account of creation. The seven-day crap and all! And this includes people with graduate degrees (allegedly smart, you know).

Here in NYC, "we all" just feel SO secure! Thanks Dear Leader!

It appears that not only might Pat's "charity," Operation Blessing, have used government largesse to fund his diamond mining, that largesse has increased from $108,000 to $14.4 million per year under Bu$hCo.

Excuse me? Our tax dollars helping Pat (and pal Mobutu Sese Seko) mine diamonds and call for the death of Hugo Chavez and the destruction of Dover, PA? No no no no no! Write to Pat and tell him to pray that someone or something will cause him to give the money to Katrina victims. We did!

In Kansas, "Douglas County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the reported beating of a ... professor who gained recent notoriety for his Internet tirades against Christian fundamentalists. Kansas University religious studies professor Paul Mirecki reported he was beaten by two men about 6:40 a.m. [yesterday] on a roadside in rural Douglas County. ... Mirecki said the men who beat him were making references to the controversy that has propelled him into the headlines in recent weeks."

[via Jesus' General] a 21 year old man jumped from a moving truck to avoid naughty words:

Tyler Poulson was riding with his brothers last night when he became offended by one of them using profanity. Poulson, who recently returned from an LDS mission, threatened to get out of the truck if he continued.

One of the men, not thinking he would, told Poulson to.

Earlier police said the car was going about 35 miles an hour when Poulson opened the door and jumped. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Sure there was the salt stain that believers thought was an image of the Virgin Mary. Sure there was the VM grilled-cheese sandwich auctioned on ebay for 28 large. In fact, there have always been strange things auctioned on ebay, including one woman's virginity.

But now MSNBC reports that Mary has shown up in a ceiling tile. Apparently, the woman who lives in the apartment wants to auction off the "artifact" to give her kids a real Christmas. Time for eBay!

Miers Does Not Want to Sit on High Court

Pledged Support for Constitutional Amendment Banning Abortion

Might Even Think There's No Right to Contraception

Confirming her status as a true Wingnut, Harriet Miers pledged to back a 'Human Life Amendment' to the U.S. Constitution [that criminalized abortions], oppose the use of public money for abortions, and ... participate in 'pro-life rallies and special events.'" The NPR piece does not say whether these "special events" include clinic bombings.

Recall that this is the same Harriet Miers that told Schumer she'd never discussed Roe v. Wade with anybody - well, we suppose that, down in Texas, a filled-in survey don't count the same as talkin' to nobody.

Even more amazingly, Miers stated in a Senate questionnaire that when asked "whether she wanted to be included in the list of potential candidates when Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor announced her resignation in July. 'I indicated at that time that I did not want to be considered.'"

So Miers wants to overturn Roe but doesn't want to sit on the Court to do it.

The larger question is, of course, will Agitprop have to institute a "Miers Withdrawal Watch." The right wing continues to unravel. Praise Jeeebus.

Rush says all of Jesus's troops have rallied around the Dear Leader's Miers high court nomination, but that's not quite the case, according to Media Matters. Quite a few little Christian Soldiers have refused to obey the Dear Leader on this one, including such shining lights as the atavistic little Gary Bauer and Operation Rescue [sic]. Even Obersturmführer Dr. Ing. Prof. Wilhelm Bennett thinks the nomination should be aborted.

The right in turmoil ... whatever shall the Dear Leader do?

Reverend Lou Promises to Cure Them of Homosexuality!

During a radio program on the American Family Network [sic], Bush tool Reverend Lou Sheldon said that gays and lesbians needed exorcisms. According to the Rev. Lou, "he had consulted with 'many psychotherapists who are Christian, and they say once you enter into that [homosexual] lifestyle ... once you enter into the culture, into the music, into the gay bars, into the gay literature, into the gay theater ... and gay travel ... you have really put yourself into a groove that only a sort of an exorcism can release you from.'" In response, thousands of gays and lesbians lined up at churches in major metropolitan areas.

In a related story, the American Family Association's Tim Wildmon agreed with a caller who said that "'you really, really, really have to watch what you are watching on TV' because 'evidence of homosexuality and lesbian people' appears in programming on cable channels HGTV and Animal Planet." Wow, wait until my cat Lili finds out - those are her favorite channels!
